Overview:
‘Certificate IV in accounting’ FNS40615 is a basic yet comprehensive accounting course designed to provide theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills in the financial services and accounting sector. The purpose of this course is to provide relevant information and skills required to manage finances and accounts in various industries. Students, through this course, will learn the basics of accounting and financing such as: data entry- both manually and computer based, transaction analysis, preparing and reports and trend charts, preparing and analyzing cost reports, stock analysis etc. Our aim is to impart sufficient knowledge of the accounts and finance that equip our graduates to be eligible for the jobs in all the industries where such services are required.
Target group:
This course is open for both local and overseas students who wish to make a career in the financial services sector. Individuals who wish to start working as self-employed or start their own Bookkeeping business services should apply for this course.
If you wish to become a professional accountant and intend to continue further studies this course will prove the stepping stone in right direction.
Entry requirements:
To be able to apply for this course, individuals must have prior experience in the field and an educational background of accounting and finance. However, for those who want to complete Business activity statement must get an additional registration by the Tax practitioners’ board prior to applying for this course. They must also check for current registration requirements with the board.

After completing the course, students will be able to apply for jobs related to accounting and finance jobs including jobs concerning maintenance of records, plan and preparation of budgets, analyzing data and prepare stock reports etc. Since the course doesn’t target one specific industry, students can apply for financing jobs in any industry like education, hospitality, accounting firms or financial services industry, etc. The completion of this course will also serve as a prerequisite for higher level accounting courses.
Course structure:
The course ‘Certificate IV in accounting’ spans over 52 weeks and consists of 13 units out of which 10 are core units and 3 are electives. Students must complete the core units in order to attain the diploma.
